Shining a spotlight on our lighting business in 2018

As the year draws to a close, it’s natural for us all to reflect on what we have achieved as a lighting business at Christmas and over the last 12 months. Here at PLM, we are incredibly lucky to have had some unforgettable moments this year, which will undoubtedly live on as milestones in PLM history.

So, before we look ahead to what 2019 may have in store for us and our clients, here’s a recap of what we have been up to. It is all in the name of striving to be the best in the business when it comes to offering commercial lighting solutions for our valued clients.

PLM IN NUMBERS

Life at PLM revolves around a lot of numbers in order deliver to commercial lighting solutions alongside the best possible customer service. Here’s just a few from the last 365 days.

• 77,689 – standard lamps or fluorescent/compact lamps installed
• 54,467 – LED lamps installed
• 638 – LED fittings installed
• 184 – overnight relamps carried out at Starbucks branches throughout the UK
• 7 – storeys refitted with LEDs in the car park at London’s Selfridges

We don’t rest on our laurels though – we will strive to achieve even more throughout 2019.

50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

There’s another number which was very important for PLM in 2018. We reached a landmark anniversary as it is 50 years since the company was first started up by my dear dad, Roy Sands, and his two associates back in 1968. From humble beginnings grew our nationwide company with an impressive client list as we provide cost effective and energy efficient commercial lighting solutions throughout the UK. We’re very proud of that too!

AWARDS SEASON SUCCESS

We like to think that we’re doing a pretty good job of things. So, it’s just brilliant when we get this recognised by the judging panels for prestigious industry awards. We were delighted to be awarded Commercial Lighting Experts of the Year 2018 at the Facilities Management Awards. We were also finalists in the Family Business of the Year category for the Inspire Business Awards 2018. Awards like this show that we’re doing great work to support our business as well as providing an unparalleled service for our clients.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE PLM FAMILY

Here at PLM, we have a strong ethos that the team is united as a family, even if this crosses bloodlines. Many of our long-standing members of staff have a close professional bond which helps us to do the best possible job we can by putting strong working relationships into action. However, we love welcoming new members too. 2018 has been no exception as we have enjoyed bringing some brilliant newcomers into the PLM team. We’re on the lookout to grow the family further, too.

SHINY NEW WEBSITE

We teamed up with the fabulous team at The Typeface Group for a complete overhaul of our existing website. They dramatically redesigned and rewrote the entire site – which was no easy feat. We launched the new website last month and everyone has been delighted with the results, and the leads from it already. We hope that it makes things easier for potential or existing clients to find out about the services we offer and how to make the most of PLM for their commercial lighting needs.  

So, it’s been quite a year. We work hard behind the scenes here at PLM to keep things ticking over. However, our commitment means that we’re already busy with how we can make 2019 just as successful as the year which has passed in the blink of an eye.

We hope all of our clients continue to stay part of PLM as we move forward in the next chapter of our story. We couldn’t do it all without you!

Closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day
27 December: 10am until 4pm
28 December: 10am until 4pm
Closed on 29th and 30th December
31 December: Open 10am until 4pm
Closed New Year’s Day.

Our usual opening hours are back in operation from Wednesday 2 January 2019.
